FAQs About TapClick

What does TapClick.to actually do?

It creates a short link that tries to break out of in-app browsers (like Instagram’s) and open your destination where it works best—Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, or directly in the native app when supported (YouTube, Spotify, Maps, and others).

Will it open links in Safari on iPhone?

In many cases, yes. When an iPhone user taps your TapClick.to link inside Instagram, we attempt a Safari handoff. If iOS or Instagram blocks it on that device or version, we show a minimal fallback with a one-tap “Open in Safari” option.

How does it behave on Android?

Inside Instagram on Android, we use an intent handoff to escape the in-app browser and open the link in Chrome, or the native app when supported.

Does it deep-link into apps like YouTube, TikTok, Spotify, Maps, or Instagram?

Yes / maybe – if the destination matches a supported app pattern, we use the app’s URL scheme or intent so it opens directly in the native app if installed. If the app isn’t installed or the handoff is blocked, we fall back to the website version.

Why not just keep people in Instagram’s browser?

Because the IG browser closes the moment someone taps the X. Your visitor disappears and so does your link. Opening in the system browser or app improves persistence and conversions.

Will my analytics and tracking still work?

Yes, standard analytics work. Escaping the in-app browser can change referrer behavior on some flows, so you may see fewer “instagram.com” referrers. Add UTM parameters in the builder to keep campaign tracking consistent.

What happens if my destination link is broken or blocked?

TapClick will always try to send visitors to your destination.
If the destination itself is offline, expired, or blocked by the destination provider, the link may not open — just like it wouldn’t if someone visited it directly.

TapClick does not modify or alter destination links. We simply route traffic safely and transparently.

Do you keep track of how many clicks there are?

Yes, a link counter is included.

Is TapClick.to free?

Yes. Anyone can create links for free. If you create an account, you can edit and manage your links later. As links are made, we present an ad from our sponsor and there may be other ads on the website, but your visitors will not see any ads.

Do I need an account?

No. Public creation works without an account. Create an account if you want to edit or delete your links later. After logging in, visit My Links to manage them.

Is TapClick blocking my links?

No. TapClick does not block destinations. If a link fails to load, it’s almost always due to the destination itself — not TapClick.

Can I add UTM parameters?

Yes. The builder includes optional fields for utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content. We attach them correctly and can lower-case values for consistency.

Does this work outside Instagram (TikTok, Facebook, etc.)?

Yes / maybe… TapClick.to is designed to help escape common in-app browsers. Exact behavior can vary by app and OS version, but we always attempt the smoothest possible hand-off.

Will this always open Safari automatically on iPhone?

No tool can guarantee that 100% of the time. iOS and Instagram sometimes block automatic handoffs. When that happens, we show a minimal fallback with a clear “Open in Safari” button and a “Copy link” option.

Does TapClick.to show ads on my links?

No. Your short links don’t show ads or interstitials. After creation, we send you (the creator) to a success page that may include an ad slot, but your visitors never see that page.

Is there a limit to how many links I can create?

No hard limit for normal use. We may rate-limit heavy automated activity to prevent abuse. If you have a special use case, reach out.

What happens on desktop?

On desktop, TapClick.to simply redirects to the destination URL in your browser.

Why do some links show a brief “Opening…” screen?

Some third-party link shorteners and redirect services are flagged by security systems across the web.
When that happens, TapClick uses a safe hand-off page to protect visitors and ensure the link opens in a real browser.

This improves reliability and reduces the chance of links being blocked.

Any gotchas I should know?

Two things: (1) iOS and Instagram behavior can vary by app version; when a silent handoff isn’t allowed, we provide a one-tap fallback. (2) If you rely heavily on “Instagram” as a referrer in analytics, escaping to Safari or Chrome may change attribution. Add UTMs to keep campaign data consistent.
